The new year of energy and inspiration
It’s amazing how energizing a new year can be.
I’m sure it’s the two weeks without routine, of long days in the sun, of time with family, of getting lost in books, and of fun new adventures that help us to remember what’s really important to us and reset our intentions.
This year team Curative are determined not to let these things fade into summertime memories or forgotten resolutions. As we kicked off the year with a two day retreat together, we decided that this year we are all collectively committed to prioritising energy and inspiration. To keeping our cups full. To being curious and chasing creativity. To looking after ourselves and each other even more; and to never feel guilty for putting ourselves first.
It’s not a new idea.
We’ve always been really intentional about looking after our wellbeing here at Curative. Our work requires us to constantly be open to hearing others challenges and hopes. We deeply feel the full spectrum of emotions; from frustration and sadness to elation, pride and absolute happiness. It’s a rollercoaster of exploration, empathy and creativity that requires us to be wholly present. So, to ensure that we can hold on for the whole ride, we need to make sure that we’re taking especially good care of ourselves.
Greg Johnson crooned it right:
“First you save yourself, then you save the world”.
We know we’re not alone in giving so much of ourselves to our work. We see all of the work that everyone around us is doing. We see all of the energy and heart that is being poured into challenges and opportunities. We see how much people care, and how much people are working to make the world better in so many different ways. We’re lucky to be part of an incredibly vibrant and generous community.
So the question for all of us is; how do we continue to strive for a better world, while also looking after ourselves and each-other in the process?
This wondering will be front of mind for us this year. We’ve got lots of thoughts about things we can do, and even more thoughts about how we can be.
Our plan is to gently level up.
We want to keep stretching ourselves, but never to the point of breaking. We look forward to learning new things that bring us new energy, and to keeping our focus on crafting, and nurturing creativity for change.
